Greetings from the Sommers and Milams

April greetings from Aphrodites Rock Cyprus:

I totally LOVED the greeting from the four of you.
I practically felt like I was right there, and ready
with a toast! It was totally awesome to know that you
four are still traveling together and enjoying life.

It makes my heart sing. Judy is up in New York state
visiting with family and John and I will be picking her
up at Palm Beach Airport this Wed. around 4:00 PM.

I am still tracking my goal of traveling to every continent
and I have just one more to go, Africa. I'll make it
but I don't have reservations yet. When I get around to
making the reservations I hope to line up the Safari
Serengeti. Its mostly Lodges and tented camping.

Judy is not heading out with me and neither is John but
I'll have a great time, I always do! There is concern
here beachside with the oil spill in the Gulf. There is
talk of the oil connecting with the gulf stream and that
would take it right up past the Atlantic east coast from
the Florida Keys north. Its always something!

Well, I'm going to replay your Greetings from the Sommers
and the Milams...it makes me happy!!!!!

Keep enjoying life...you guys are really cool! Hugs, jax

Effects of Iceland Volcano on OAT travelers

WE LEFT ON APRIL 23 AND THE PLANES WERE FULL. OAT TOOK CARE OF OUR LODGING AND BREAKFAST AND MADE ALL THE CHANGES ON OUR FLIGHTS. THE COMPANY IS GREAT AND WE REALLY APPRECIATED ALL THEY DID. GLAD YOUR TRIP BACK WAS PRETTY UNEVENTFUL. SINCE WE WERE BOOKED FOR MUNICH THAT SAME DAY, WE WERE CANCELLED OUT. ANYWAY EVERYTHING WORKED OUT. SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT IN THE FUTURE.

June and Ken,

We were also in Athens (with Tom and Nancy Sommers) on April 20th and met some people who were on the Dalmatian Coast tour, possibly with you. We were on our own tour to Cyprus and Athens for 3 weeks and had booked our tickets 6 months in advance. The day we were scheduled to leave Athens (April 20) marked the first flight from Athens to Frankfurt and our direct flight from Frankfurt all the way to LA, although late by one hour, was, most likely one of the first to depart from Frankfurt when that airport was opened again. The 747 was only 2/3 full.

We were so very lucky and wish you the best and will keep our fingers crossed. What a mess the volcanic has created and will create over the next couple of months. We were saying when we got back home, we said we would laugh and ultimately forget the worrying we went through on this trip, but it certainly will be in our memories for a very long time.

Good luck to you and yes we have heard how great the Dalmatian tour is.....

NAILS IN THE FENCE

Thursday, April 22, 2010

Friends

NAILS IN THE FENCE
Make sure you
read all the way down to the last sentence.

(Most
importantly
the last sentence)

There once was
a little boy who had a bad temper. His Father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence..

The first day
the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next
few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily
gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn ' t lose his temper at all.

He told his
father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper.

The days
passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.

The father
took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, ' You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence.. The fence will
never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. But It won ' t matter how many times you say I ' m sorry, the wound will still be there. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one..

Remember that friends are very rare jewels indeed.
They make you smile and encourage you to succeed; They lend an ear, they share words of praise and they always want to open
their hearts to us.

It ' s National
Friendship Week. Show your friends how much you care.. Send this to everyone you consider a
FRIEND, even if it means sending it
back to the person who sent it to you! If it comes back to you,
you will then know you have a circle of
friends.

YOU
ARE MY FRIEND AND I AM HONORED!

Now send this
to every friend you have!! And to your

family
(they need to
know that you love them too)...

Please forgive
me if I have ever left a ' hole ' in your fence.
