Contribution by Jim Roch to get the Australia blog moving

An Old Cowboy's Advice
Author Unknown

Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong.
Keep skunks and bankers and lawyers at a distance.
Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.
A bumble- bee is considerably faster than a John Deere Tractor.
Words that soak into your ears are whispered, not yelled.
Meanness don't jest happen overnight.
Forgive your enemies, it messes up their heads.
Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you.
It doesn't take a very big person to carry a grudge.
You cannot unsay a cruel word.
Every path has a few puddles.
When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.
The best sermons are lived, not preached.
Most of the stuff people worry about ain't never gonna happen anyway.
Don't judge folks by their relatives.
Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get old and think back, you'll enjoy it a second time.
Don't interfere with something that ain't bothering you none.
Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.
If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging.
Sometimes you get and sometimes you get got.
The biggest troublemaker you'll probably ever have to deal with watches you from the mirror every morning.
Always drink up steam from the herd.
Good judgment comes from experience and a lotta that comes from bad judgment.
Letting the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than putting it back in.
If you get to thinking you're a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else's dog around.

Overseas Adventure Ultimate Australia Tour

Hello to everyone!! What with the normal busy life, it has taken us some time to finally get our pictures edited and posted to Kodak. There are some good shots here, however, and we figured you guys would find them fun to thumb through. Just looking at them ourselves brings back such wonderful memories of our great trip. It was a joy to be with you all and to enjoy learning about and seeing such a wonderful country that Australia is. Our thanks go out to Vince on the OAT Australia leg, as well, for "leading" us around and just plain putting up with us even when hiding behind a tree. (Smile) I know that Chuck is working on the blog; so more good things are coming and we will be able to share all our personal pictures and memories using that medium. Our best to all and once again we enjoyed meeting, and traveling with, all of you. Cheers, Tom and Nancy Sommers

Begin Overseas Adventure Travel

We begin the Overseas Adventure Travel tour of Australia by the opening salvo of Tour Director, Vince Haberfield: "Aussies stand by their convictions and choose not to be revolting."

If this were not enough to get the political discussion flowing, we Americans learned later that were it not for the American Revolution (Georgia colony being the receptor of English convicts), the flow of convicts to Tasmania (see Fort Arthur in www.oattasmania.blogspot.com) and then later to Australia's mainland, the history of Australia and its settlement might have been totally different.

The following (above) pictures and videos proved to be a remarkable learning and discovery for the eleven of us that were fortunate to be on this particular OAT "Ultimate Australia" trip. It is our hope (those of us that contributed to this blog as well as you can also by submitting pictures or comments) that you will experience as much fun and enjoyment as we did in loading the blog.
