East MacDonell Range near Alice Springs

Our guide Lindsey's ???? father was Indigenous and Lindsey grew up in the indigenous culture, including the ritual of becoming a man and loosing his two front teeth. This area is considered sacred. The focus of this particular optional tour and in the words of Lindsey was to describe the current dreadful (my word) condition of his indigenour people who really have no jobs and rely heavily on the Australian government and subsidies for their daily existience. Lindsey has remained in the local community and earns his living hunting. He also said the "indigenous communities need to be more proactive and emphasize education amongst its youth, in order to removethe "welfare" state attitue."

Continued....

And yes, the Australian Barbie (not the doll but the BBQ) at the All Seasons Oasis hotel in Alice Springs (Chief Cook is Lindsey's older son with Head Chef Vincent):

More good things to eat (note Lindsey's younger son listening to
Vincent):
